Apprenticeship School
Carpentry & Joinery, Cabinet Making, Blocklaying
Course Description
In conjunction with FAS each course is of 10 weeks duration. The aim is to equip students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to work to the highest standard in their chosen trade. They also prepare them for a third level qualification as craft technician capable of filling supervisory or technical position in the building industry.

Course Content

FAS Phases 4 and 6 Apprentices:

• Carpentry / Joinery Practice
• Carpentry / Joinery Theory
• Cabinet Making Practical
• Cabinet Making Theory
• Block / Bricklaying Practical
• Block / Bricklaying Theory
• Technical Drawing
• AutoCAD
• Mathematics


Career Prospects / Progression
Students who are successful in their final exam can gain admittance to the School of Construction Trades, Bolton Street, Dublin for a Craft Bases Technician Certificate Course in Building. (B 120)

Certification
At the end of the Phase 6 courses all student sit a final examination and will be awarded a craft certificate by FAS following completion of Phase 7 with an employer.

Entry Requirements
Students must register with FAS for their apprenticeship after they are taken on by an approved employer in the Carpentry and joinery, cabinet making and bricklaying trades. FAS will notify all registered apprentices when they are required to go to college for the different phases.
