Course Description

This course is designed to provide a qualification in care skills. It is suitable for those who are already working in hospitals, the community or nursing homes, but is equally suitable for those seeking work in this sector. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience allowing them to become competent members of a healthcare team. They exercise these skills during weekly work experience. Students of 18 years and over are welcome to apply.

This course now available one day a week for one year (If currently employed in the sector)

Career prospects / progression

Due to changing structures in the care environment, huge opportunities exist for graduates. At present there is a shortfall of qualified carers, thus graduates are highly sought after. Students may also proceed to third level Colleges through the higher links scheme.


Certification

Students who successfully complete this course FETAC level 5 Healthcare Support Award (DHSXX).
