The Understanding Special Needs module is designed to give learners an understanding of the context of special needs, associated issues and approaches. It will enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skill and attitudes required to work effectively, under direction in special need settings. The Special Needs Assisting module is designed to enable learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and aptitudes required to work safely and effectively, as special needs assistants under direction. This course is suitable for those who are planning to work with children in a variety of different settings, such as the primary school, crèche, play school etc. It is necessary to have a work placement about 3 hours per week in a suitable setting before enrolling on this course in order to complete assignments.

Certification: FETAC Level 5 Component Certificates.
