Course Description

This course is designed to give students a well-rounded introduction to the healthcare system. Students study core areas of nursing, and are enabled to put theory into practice through their participation in work experience. In addition, students are given the opportunity of exploring the nursing discipline of their choice by taking a specialised module option. Students are required to wear a uniform to college.

Career prospects / progression

Students may proceed to third level colleges to study Nursing, Social Care or Health Sciences through the higher links scheme. They are also employable within the healthcare system. The college has established an exclusive link with Southampton University which enables successful graduates to gain entry onto their nursing programmes.


Certification

Students who successfully complete this course achieve FETAC Level 5 Award (DCHSN).

Students also achieve a Manual Handling Certificate and First Aid Certificates.
