Course Description

This two-year full-time course is designed to develop the students’ understanding of the core concepts of security business management and to train suitable personnel for the specialised and dynamic security industry. The course
meets the requirements of training as specified by the Private Security Services Act. 2004.

Career prospects / progression

The course is suitable for those who intend to apply to the Garda Siochana, Harbour Police, Airport Police, Prison Service and Fire Service. Graduates are equipped for management and supervisory positions in retail and industrial security firms.


Certification

Students who successfully complete the first year achieve a FETAC Level 5 Award in Security Studies (CSSXX) and a Certificate from the Security Institute of Ireland. Successful students in 2nd year will be awarded a FETAC level 6 Award in Security Operations and Administration and a Diploma from the Security Institute of Ireland.
